Pleased to meet you! My name is Debora Hoffmann, and I’m the creator of New Avenue Crew. Way back in August 1996, I designed my first pattern and painstakingly made my first Crew member, a small teddy bear named Madeleine. Since then, I have finished 62 other bears, 3 cats, and 1 pig. (You could say that I’m a slow bear maker, and you would be correct!)
After a few years of self-imposed hibernation from bear making, I am now eager to work again with the fur and fluff. Any creating I do is during moments of free time I have in my “normal” life, which is filled with my work as a proofreader, my loving husband, our two teenage daughters, and striving to live and eat healthfully.

I live in beautiful Colorado. Garth (my dear husband) and I enjoy spending time in God’s spectacular creation, and Garth loves to take photos and create paintings (see his work at Garth Hoffmann Studios). You could say we’re an artistic couple–we even got engaged in an art gallery. Last year, we added two teenage girls from Ukraine to our family, and the house is only quiet when they’re at school or sleeping. My spare moments are truly spare.
On this blog, I’ll share with you the joys and frustrations and fun of being a very-part-time soft-sculpture artist. Let me know you’ve been here and what you think by leaving a comment–I love to get comments.
I hope you enjoy your stay on my blog!
Debora

Hi Debora
Just a quick note to say hello. I really appreciate your thumbs up on little Mister Wistful on TT. He’s my 3rd bear, and I’m really loving making them, after decades of collecting them!
I wanted to say that your bear faces are wonderful! I love their expression and their noses, particular, the bear on your acct on TT, in your header banner here, and down the side of your page!
I would love to buy one of your bears! Please let me know how we might be able to connect to do this.
Cheers and best wishes
Brenda

Brenda, thank you for your lovely note! I so appreciate your comments (you made my day!), and I’m glad I’ve connected with you by e-mail so I can get to know you. Keep making those bears of yours!
Bear hugs,
Debora
